loklok bday surprise 101.

on the last weekend of april, it was loklok's birthday (yes it took me a month to get this post together). he HAD to be born near exam season didn't he.
as a result, i had never really planned to be with him for his birthday given it was near impossible as we would both be at uni revising our butts off for our exams in 2 weeks.

driving past oxford.

i told loklok i wasn't gonna be able to make it to warwick as my exams were just drawing so close.
but a few days later, i found out that it was my flat mate's birthday on the same day as loklok's and that he had invited 6 of his mates to come down - meaning loud music, heck lots of partying and a poor me not being able to revise anyway.

seeing some pretty funky restaurant names on my coach journey

so i made the plunge - yolo-ed it and bought my tickets to warwick (which didn't come at an easy price at all btw as i booked so late) and decided not to tell loklok about it so i could surprise him.

the next phase of surprise required me to get some help in warwick so i could sneak in - i linked up with his flatmate i met the last time i went to warwick and she enthusiastically decided to meet me at my coach station.

cake number 2

the day came, and we popped over to sainsbury's to grab cake and candles before we sneaked into his kitchen. we grabbed as many of his flatmates as possible and i hid behind the fridge before surprising him as he entered the kitchen to everyone singing happy birthday to him.
his reaction? - 'what are you doing here?!'

we proceeded to eating a lot of cake that evening as more of loksze's friends turned up with another chocolate cake.

ootd

the next day, we bought some tickets to go to a club in leamington spa. i borrowed a dress off hannah (loksze's flatmate) as i wasn't expecting to go out so didn't bring any clothes, and after only eating a bowl of cheesy baked beans and a slice of toast the whole day, skipped over to pre-drinks with everyone.

long story short - i drank wayyyyy to much than i should've on an empty stomach, shouldn't have mixed drinks, and the night just didn't go down very classily.

the night still remained so fun however and we all had a great time with his flatmates.
NOTHING COULD STOP US!!!!

the funniest girl i met all night. we ended up leap frogging over each other back home.

i booked my coach for the next morning which was not a great idea at all as hangovers and coach journeys do not go well.

anyhow, happy birthday loklok! i hope this weekend really was one to remember.
i love you x

back to uni life.

came back to two little babies growing on the tops of my cactus!

returning back from the easter break means the start to glorious exams, revision and typing up all my last minute coursework.

i ensured my food remained lush and that i consumed my greens. or perhaps i was just procrastinating.

popped to mcdonalds one evening to claim all my monopoly stickers. free meals yes.

enduring on an all nighter to complete a piece of coursework i was supposed to have done during easter.

6am study group taking a break from our coursework

being like clay.

a totally irrelevant but crave-worthy picture because i'm still swimming in my pile of revision notes.

o Lord, you are our father,
we are the clay.
you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
- isaiah 64:8

"saying yes to God means we say yes to whatever He asks us to do, however big or small the task may be.
the humble heart, like clay in the hand of the potter, trusts the Lord for His perfect design, His perfect will."

sunday food trip.

that baby hair is still lovin life.

this is the last catch-up post from easter. the last sunday i spent in london before heading back to southampton for the start of glorious exams was spent going to church and bulking myself with some good food before i endure tinned beans everyday.

loklok snapped this as we were eating mcdonalds and named it 'the typical london pic' - i think he just means 'big red bus'
i love being in london on sunday mornings as it's the only time it's really quite serene and relaxing until the hustle and bustle kicks in later in the afternoon.
attending church in soho means i'm able to enjoy london with its morning air which really isn't that refreshing given all the pollution!
we actually got a second free wrap cos the hash brown in the first one tasted yucky.
mornings are always done right if we start with a big fatty, salty mcdonalds breakfast. it really is our tradition every sunday morning before we get to share our coffee breath at church when we sing out our praises during worship.

after service, i hopped over to meet etain to grab yolkin - macaroon ice cream sandwiches!
these have been raving all over social media as of lately and it's only now that i've got a chance to give it a try - it really did not let me down.

funny story: etain and i had no idea how fast these sweet delights sold out and took our time strolling over to their pop-up shop, even getting lost. we were contemplating what flavours we were gonna get to find out when we got there, that there were only two macaroons left! they were both jasmine and green tea flavoured. seeing as we came just for them, we took them anyway, only to be blown away by how tasty it was!

after we took the last two, there were still so many people coming to buy them. we had no idea there was such high demand for these instagram-worthy treats and felt incredibly smug about it.

and here's another piece of good news i found out that day - i applied to go to korea to teach english last year and was rejected, but this year i finally got an opportunity to go!

after my so-called lunch with etain accompanied with a spot of shopping, i met loklok and we strolled around for a bit

we went to visit kingly court, a cool place hidden in carnaby street!

for dinner we ended up in nandos where we devoured a whole chicken and 4 sides between the 2 of us.
that's how we rock.

food unites.

returning back home from uni for easter had meant eating tons and gallons of good food.
it was only wise to document the great stuff i devoured in to make up for my daily pesto pasta meals i consumed at uni.

not only do these pictures display lavishness and luxury, but i believe they depict God's abundance of love for me by blessing me with all this amazing food - and that's why i love food pictures.

i'm so lucky to be tucking away at all this and though these may seem like just ordinary pictures such as an egg on toast, i like to be reminded that these are also times where i had a lot of fun laughing and catching up with my friends and family over good food.

food unites people.

mornings started off the right way with cheesy eggs on toast.

my mum's delicious mussels.

another of my mum's wonderful cooking - she always spoils me when i'm back home!

there's always time to have a big ole hot pot and fellowship with some friends from church

an ambitious morning making flapjacks with my sister for breakfast

bit of yolk porn - oh yes.

free yoghurt on the streets of london, on the day when i didn't have time to eat breakfast

wasabi take out with loklok before we headed over to our student fellowship

sundays aren't complete without a cheeky mcd breakfast before church

yummiest goats cheese, pesto and tomato pastry from the local lidl!
dinner at loklok's house - and his dad cooked up the most luxurious crab noodles!

this was accompanied by a huge bowl of mussels!

#blessed.

easter snapshots.

making new friends on our walk to the post office

it has been well past easter but i still haven't been able to update my life here as it's been so hectic since coming back to uni with coursework and revision. now that i have 17 minutes left on my revision break, i have the opportunity to dump some snaps i took from easter.

lunch in wandsworth (on a very windy day) with some students and my family who stayed at our house during easter

encountering a fire station open day after church

check out that vintage fire truck!

both loksze and i managed to catch a virus on the last week of our holidays which resulted in us throwing up, not being able to eat and dying for a few days. (he's totally gonna kill me for putting this picture up.)

chef-ing lunch - fried udon.

met this little cutie after coming back from camp - my sister is best friends with her older sister so we took the opportunity to bond too.
painting mini nails

finally got the chance to clean my clubbing shoes when the sun came out - lookin good as new

walking to church on the bluest morning i've seen in london for a long time
