My birthday in pictures

My birthday was a few weeks ago and only now did I have the chance to upload a few snaps from my day. I went to Earls Court in London with my cousins, friends and sister, followed by some tasty food at a buffet in Camden town. Ooooo and mustn't I forget, I also got a few boxes of scrummy cupcakes - I have the best friends ever :)

Green Tea and Strawberry Chiffon Cake

Firstly, hello December! I've been looking forward to this month of festive celebrations and traditions since last year!

And secondly, oh haven't I just got the most fabi-doo-cious cake to share!

I have instagrammed about this cake previously; the making of it, to the assembling of it and to the eating of it. Pure nom.

The cake is simply made up of two layers of green tea chiffon cake and two layers of strawberry chiffon cake. I have been on the hunt for a strawberry chiffon cake that uses real strawberries, not flavouring or colouring - uh-huh. And I'm so glad I managed to fall upon this recipe. Real strawberries is what I wanted to see. It says to use a strawberry paste but I wasn't able to find any when I decided to make this cake at the very last minute. Luckily, the strawberry flavour does shine through ever so vaguely and you get a hint of its berriness.

I'm so pleased that both cakes came out of the oven so successful - both cakes were so light and spongey and when cut, had the lovely contrast between the two colours; natural pink and green colours.

As I had to travel all the way to central London with the cake, I could not possibly use a whip cream topping I normally go for with chiffon cakes. Therefore, it calls for the instant angel delight pudding. I have chosen to use a strawberry flavoured one to emphasise on the vague strawberry sponge and also for its bright colour. I have also previously used it for this birthday cake! And to top it all off, I added some fruit flakes to it :P

Insta-thursty: week 1

It's the first week of Insta-thursty!! And I have two bakes I have instagrammed since last weeks post. And believe me, baking has relieved some of the stress that is overflowing out of me - I have a piano exam on Saturday; a scary, grade 8 one that I believe will make my legs tremble.

Please, pray for me.

First up, my grandma's birthday at which I decided to bake a layered strawberry and green tea sponge cake. I have realised the decoration is somehow extremely sloppy for my liking but disaster struck when I opened the strawberries the night before to find that they have all gone mouldy!

I've ended up smothering it with angel delight and sprinkling on some fruit flakes. However, I don't think it is the presentation that counts all the time as the cake was memorably decorated by me and my cousins, one of who is only five and loves to contribute to a pink and green cake!

Secondly, a dream come true. I had this vision one night as I was laying in bed and an insane idea struck.

I imagined this massive cookie with gooey marshmallows oozing out if the centre and there it was, a giant s'more cookie.

As it was my good friend's birthday today, I had baked up this giant cookie, just for her!

And you know what, my dream came true.

Happy Birthday to me! :D

Well, am I another year older!? my sister offered to bake a cake for me, however she kinda gave up a quarter of the way through the baking process, and so I had to finish it up for her. it may not be the best looking cake in the whole wide world, but I'm pretty darn sure it has the most love put into it!

My mummy cooked up the most delicious pasta for us and we had some fish for the starter! thank youu mummy ^^
And for dessert...ME AND MY SISTER'S CHOCOLATE CAKE! :D

it was pretty amazing I'd say, filled with strawberries and topped with blueberries...always on the healthy side of course.. *wink wink*

"Filling it up with strawberries :P"

"Piping on the words..."
